Calculating your GPA
GPA is the numerical value between 0 and 4 that is assigned to grades. Use this guide to calculate yours.
Assign a point value to a letter grade.
A=4 points
B=3 points
C=2 points
D=1 point
F=0 points
Credit hour is the value assigned for each completed course. For example, ENG 101 has a credit of three hours.
1. Multiply the value of your grade by the number of semester hours the course is worth. This gives the grade points earned for the course.
2. Add the grade points.
3. Divide the total number of grade points by the total number of semester hours you have attempted.
Example:
| Course | Grade | Credit | Hours | Points |
| ENG 101 | A | 4 | 3 | 12 |
| MAT 110 | B | 3 | 3 | 9 |
| BIO 101 | C | 2 | 4 | 8 |
| Total | 10 | 29 |
29 grade points divided by 10 semester hours attempted = 2.90 GPA.
